Our Story

Leveraging value
on provenance
for pearls

Onegemme was born of the vision to leverage value on provenance for pearls by merging quality pearls and sustainability credentials using traceability solutions.

In addition to sourcing quality products from reputable suppliers, we actively drive social and environmental impact measurement and management pilot projects in collaboration with pearl farmers, industry peak bodies, government agencies, non-profit groups, pearl traders and retailers.

We believe pearls have the potential to become the only nature positive gem, where the value of their impact on community and ecosystems greatly offset its cost.

Who we are

100 years of
combined expertise

Philippe, James and Pierre joined forces in 2023 to change the way the world understands and appreciates pearls. With over 100 years of combined expertise in pearl production and distribution, we invite you to dive and discover the pivotal role of nacre quality as it binds elements to form a gem and how the story of people and planet behind every pearl is equally important to how it looks and feel.

Philippe started his career in luxury before diving into the world of pearls to help Robert Wan expand internationally. He currently lives between Tahiti and the Philippines and splits his time between pearl trading and property management.

Third generation pearler, James was born and bred in Australia. Marine biologist by trade, he grew up on a pearl farm and currently lives between Perth, Cygnet Bay and Broken Bay to manage Pearls of Australia and prepare the group for generations to come.

Pierre grew-up in Tahiti and graduated business in France prior to joining Jewelmer in the Philippines to help introduce Golden pearls to the world. He relocated to Australia in 2013 to drive Atlas Pearls growth in Indonesia and now focuses on Pearl Impacttm since 2020.

What we do

First dedicated marketplace for pearls

Onegemme was launched in 2024 as a trade only platform. We’ve chosen to broaden our audience so pearl enthusiasts can directly access our inventory. End consumers can select pearl to be set, retailers and designers can suggest designs and settings without having to carry a large inventory and wholesalers can benefit from our direct access to farmers.

Why we do it

It's not the destination,
it's the journey

A pearl reflects the journey of the mollusc it was harvested from. Its quality, impact and origin are embedded within layers of nacre. At Onegemme, we help you unlock and share the secrets of those natural beauties by offering single origin, positive impact, quality pearls.

Our Pearls

Single Origin

Pearl harvests are often mixed and consolidated to increase matching opportunities and the story behind them is lost as it changes hands. We curate single origin loose pearls, matchings, and strands which details can be uploaded on Provenance Proof blockchain platform and passed on for generations to come.

Positive Impact

Molluscs are filter-feeders, their survival and growth make them bioindicators and bio-monitors of ecosystems health. We select our suppliers based on their commitment to extend molluscs multiple services to ecosystems and community and support them on their Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) journey. Until a global impact assessment and certification framework are in place, we acknowledge our suppliers based on the regulatory environment they operate within, their commitments to and how they assess their impact.

Quality Pearls

Pearlers and traders developed grading systems specific to the type of pearl they harvest and sell. We describe our pearls using a universal classification system derived from the Gemological Institute of America ’s (GIA) 7 Pearl Value Factors and the World Jewellery Confederation's (CIBJO) pearl guide. The same universal classification system and language is used by Provenance Proof , our traceability partner for consistency.
